360 Sales of Modern Warfare 2 Double PS3 Sales

Just to get the fanboy flames going, Activision has reported that sales of the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were double that of the PlayStation 3’s. MW2 had set the record for launch day sales.

Speaking at a digital entertainment conference in New York, Dennis Durkin, Chief Operation Officer of Activision’s Interactive Entertainment Business, said, without going into detail on numbers or geographical break down, that the Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2 has outsold its PlayStation 3 counterpart 2-to-1. “Initial feedback from retailers is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 [on Xbox 360] has outsold the PS3 2:1,” Durkin said while also noting the news that this past Tuesday, the launch day of Modern Warfare 2, Xbox Live topped record numbers with over two million users online at the same time.

One wonders how many copies of the PC version have sold. Have you been enjoying Modern Warfare 2? Let us know which system you’ve been playing it on.

I am enjoying MW2 on ps3 very much. I would say that ps3 has a much wider selection of games then Xbox 360 this year and that this has surely affected the amount of sales on the platform. I have no doubts that the PS3 version will in the long run sell quite a great deal of discs just as Grand Theft Auto 4 has done and continues to do and Final Fantasy 13 will as well. enjoy
