Star Trek Fuels Fanboy Flames

Everyone knows that Blu-Ray beat out HD-DVD in the high definition disc based format war, primarily on the strength of Playstation 3 sales, the only Blu-Ray hardware to sell in significant numbers. So, it was interesting to see today the release of Star Trek on Blu-Ray, but what’s this? Why are there Xbox 360 and Xbox Live logos on the back?

Well, it turns out that the third disc in the Blu-Ray package contains not only the digital copy of the movie, but a playable demo of the top-down Star Trek themed space combat strategy game Star Trek: D.A.C. The game is NOT exclusive to the 360; copies are available both from Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Network for play on the PS3. It’s a mystery as to why the Blu-Ray version of the movie would include the 360 version of the demo. It’s an even bigger mystery why they would ONLY include the 360 version.
