Bonfire of the Vanities Coming to Assassin’s Creed 2

No, this has nothing to do with Tom Hanks. In fact, the novel and movie’s title comes from the famous purging of “vanities” from Florence when Girolamo Savonarola managed to oust the Medicis with a fervent fundamentalist uprising, when the Dominican friar thought the morals of Florence were too loose under the ruling family. Pope Alexander VI eventually had him executed. Savonarola makes the perfect Assassin’s Creed II villian, and I openly expressed disappointment in my review that the event only earned a brief reference in the game.

Well, now you get to experience the turbulent time as downloadable content, along with “The Battle of Forli”, which is perfect for the style of the game, as it involves war and blackmail, and the “Bonfire”. They’ll be fit into the game as “Sequences”, thus changing the linearity. “Forli” will be released in January for $3.99 (320 MSP), while “Bonfire” will be released in February for $4.99 (400 MSP).

Now, how about Rome, Ubisoft? Or will that be a full expansion?

Let us know how much you’re enjoying Assassin’s Creed II.
