Angry Birds PS Mini Problems

For players who want to update their PSN Mini version of Angry Birds, they’ll have to jump through some funky hoops to do so.
Chillingo originally released Angry Birds on PSN as a PlayStation Mini. Then, Rovio released an “official” version a few months later, which had better load times and new features. Unfortunately, since it was a different publisher, the newer Angry Birds was a “separate” game, which means that you can’t update the old Angry Birds into the new one – you have to pay $4 USD for the new version.
Understandably, this has caused an outcry among the PSN populace, and Rovio has announced:
…anyone who purchased the older version can contact PSN customer service directly. PSN customer service will check your account to verify the purchase, and provide you with a voucher to download the new version.
In essence, to patch Angry Birds, you have to contact customer service to get a voucher to buy a new version free. How 1995 of Rovio.

Why can’t Rovio made the update automatic so PS mini players won’t get hassled? This is a problem that Chillingo and Rovio should talk about, but consumers are the ones suffering. I’m sure PSN got deeply affected by this conflict. And by the way, does anyone play Angry Birds on PS?
