PSN Down for Maintanance January 20, 2012

Sony has announced that PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance tomorrow on January 20, 2012.
The official blog states:
PlayStation Network will be offline for routine scheduled maintenance on Thursday, January 19th from approximately 8am until 9pm PST.
During the maintenance, you will be unable to access the following services:
- PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP, and Media Go.
- PlayStation Network Account Management.
- PlayStation Network Account Registration.
- PlayStation Home
- Music Unlimited & Video Unlimited services
In addition, you will not be able to sign in to PlayStation Network from us.playstation.com.
So, if you’re wondering why you can’t logon – that’s why.

I got a ps3 today and just wanted to know if this happens frequently and also why it happens. Thanks

It seem like every 8 weeks. Sometimes every few days if they’re having hacker problems.

Yea, its really annoying that we have to deal with maintenance every few weeks, but i can still play online, though i can’t connect to the psn store or anything else (but online).

8am to 9pm is ridiculous i paid $400 for my system and then u take most of my day to add software updates it cant take that long.
