PS Vita Continues to Struggle in Japan

The good news is that the PSP Vita has topped 500,000 unit sales in Japan. The bad news is that it’s taken 6 weeks to get there, rather than the hours or days it takes most hardware, and sales have fallen off a cliff in recent weeks.
Here’s how it breaks down:
| Sales | Sales Vs. Prev. Week | Sales Vs. Launch Week | |
| Week 1 | 324,859 | - | - |
| Week 2 | 72,479 | -77.69% | -77.69% |
| Week 3 | 42,648 | -41.16% | -86.87% |
| Week 4 | 42,915 | 0.63% | -86.79% |
| Week 5 | 18,361 | -57.22% | -94.35% |
| Week 6 | 15,219 | -17.11% | -95.32% |
| Total | 516,481 |
One could argue that the bleeding has stopped, now that sales have only dropped 3,000 units from last week, but when your good news is “Yay! We’re only 17% down this week instead of 50%!” that’s not really a rallying point. Compared to launch week, PSP Vita sales are down 95.32%. Let’s hope for their sake that this is the bottom and things begin climbing from here.
