Stunning news has come out of Hollywood, as Disney, which owns ABC TV, The Muppets, and Marvel Comics, has added Lucasfilm and all its assets to its stable.
This means that Disney owns the rights to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and its videogame division LucasArts.
If that weren’t enough, Disney has announced that the story arc for the next Star Wars trilogy has been plotted out, and Episode VII is in pre-production and scheduled for 2015.
George Lucas was quoted as saying:
“It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime.”
